Dark Age Productions, the 1990’s US label, keen on releasing medieval, dark ambient, atmospheric music, has returned in 2016.
Dark Age Productions was known for releasing atmospheric side-projects by artists such as Equitant (Absu), Proscriptor (Absu), Akhkharu, The Soil Bleeds Black (Fetid Zombie), Akrabu (Crimson Moon) and many others in extremely limited cassette editions between the years 1994 – 1997.
The new incarnation of Dark Age Productions is a side-label of Metal Hell Records and will have the benefit of a wider distribution network for CD and digital releases to websites such as iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and others. While limited edition cassette releases will still be sold exclusively from the labels own website.
Now, the first release from the resurrected Dark Age Productions is CERNUNNOS WOODS’ “Forest Anthology” a remastered compilation of early material and rare compilation tracks, written and recorded by label curator Bard Algol Eriboas between 1994 and 1998, including the full audio track “Into Glory Ride” which appeared on ABSU’s “Mythological Occult Metal” Best Of album, under the title of “The Great Battle Moving from Ideal to Actual”.
THE MOTH GATHERER, from Sweden, have released a new music video for the song ‘Probing The Descent Of Man’, taken from the “The Earth Is The Sky”, released last year on Agonia Records.
“The Earth Is The Sky” was recorded over a period of two years in three different studios and features notable guests, including: David Johansson (Kongh), Wacian (Code), The Cuukoo (Terra Tenebrosa) and Thomas Jäger (Monolord).
The album’s mixing & mastering duties were taken care of by Karl Daniel Lidén (Dozer, The Old Wind, Switchblade, Terra Tenebrosa). The artwork was made by SCG, while Swedish printer EJG prepared the layout, creating an exclusive painting for each of the six tracks appearing on the album.

Russian Atmospheric Black Metal band TAIGA are streaming their first single, ‘Вверх’, out from their upcoming album “Sky”, which is set for release on September 16th via Satanath Records sub label Symbol of Domination.
The album tells “the story about those moments in life when people are aware of their own insignificance and can not overcome the emotional pain. Everyday is torture for them as loneliness is the guard of their cage and they feel there is no escape. In hope of change, they turn their eyes to the sky.”
French Atmospheric Post-Doom band ANGELLORE has also released a new video for the song ‘Inertia’, taken from their album “La Litanie des Cendres”.
The album has had great positive reviews from both the press and metal fans alike and you can stream it for free on Bandcamp at http://angellore.bandcamp.com.
DEVIL’S HOUND is a one-man-project created by Dean Noir in 2015 who has released some digital demos.
The project aims to a raw, lo-fi and atmospheric sound, trying to mirror Humans as they are, fallible beings. The lyrical concept wanders around lost loves, demons and classic horror films (namely the one’s featuring Vincent Price).
Sometime this year, DEVIL’S HOUND will release the EP “A Night With Ingmar Bergman”, in which songs inspired on films created by the iconic Swedish director will be presented.
For the time being, the musician anticipates the upcoming release by sharing a song titled ‘Cries And Whispers’.
After signing a deal with Shunu Records, the French atmospheric post-doom metal combo ANGELLORE recently released its sophomore album, “La Litanie des Cendres”. Just like their debut, “Errances”, this five-song CD was recorded and mixed between July 2012 and April 2014 by Florent Krist (bass player in CYNIC’s side project AEON SPOKE) at EverTone Studio in France and mastered by Markus Skroch (HEL, NATTSOL, ELANE).
Commenting on the album’s production, the band said: “Creating “LA LITANIE DES CENDRES” (French for “Litany of ashes”) was a very demanding process, but we can assure you that the result is worth all the efforts we put into it. And it definitely feels great to start anew with a young and welcoming home like SHUNU RECORDS. With their help, we will make sure we take ANGELLORE to the next level. We can’t wait to take you on our new musical journey. The best is yet to come!”
Two years after the release of the debut album, “Mystery Timeline”, the atmospheric gothic metal Spanish duo UNIVERSAL THEORY will have their sophomore effort, “The Most Attractive Force”, released on Metal Hell Records in August 2015! Majo Martos is once again in charge for performing the female vocals and there’s also collaboration with Beth Hart, a pianist from Manchester (UK).
